Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur is the spiritual
pioneer of the modern day Krishna conciousness movement. He is the father of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Srila
Bhaktivinode thakur was the chief magistrate for the Jagannatha Puri temple in Orissa, an eastern state in India, during the
later part of eighteenth century. He was the first to send literature to the west about the teachnings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
He wrote many of his spiritual treatises in the English language for the benefit of the western world. He was a paramahamsa
of the highest order, and at the end of his life he entered "samadhi" (constant meditation) to join the eternal
pastimes of Radha and Krishna.
